Notice how in the opening credits, the Reds are surrounded by grass, then in the end credits they're surrounded by asphalt. "Looking out of the window, watching the asphalt grow". I used to watch this show all the time as a kid, and that didn't hit me until now. RIP Cabrini-Green. Hope the residents all find better lives.

What happened to the father in this show. I remember they said he died. Did he really die. Wasn't he the owner of the fake McDonalds in Coming to America?

> What happened to the father in this show
"Once focused on the importance of family values, the show was shifting more and more toward the silly antics of Jimmie Walker, who was becoming a runaway hit on the show as the aimless, egotistical, jive-talking teenage son JJ. John began frequently clashing with the higher-ups and, by 1976, was released from the series, with his character being killed in an off-camera car accident while finding employment out of state."

In fact John Amos is still alive and well and still acting. I think his most recent role was in Men In Trees. He was also previously on The West Wing. But yeah, I remember only saying Good Times was only worth watching if John Amos was in it. He was soooooo funny!

I always thought it was "hangin in a jury" when I was young lad, then on I KNOW BLACK PEOPLE they said "chow line" but the writers of the show have made it clear that it's "Hangin and jivin" or however u spell it. Always interesting to learn something new about a show that I grew up watching.
