| 'Nimrod' is often taken very slowly, as if it were a Bruckner Adagio. It's refreshing to hear it played in this surging, impassioned way. I never heard Tippett in Elgar, but he really has a feel for this music. And the orchestra brings it off tremendously well. |

| The way that Tippett taught us how to play Enigma was really special. He wasn't a very good conductor in the technical sense but he was a tremendous educator and communicator. A truly great musician. |
