Gillian Chung stars as Ching Ling So in the Mainland series, "Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain".
Her death scene takes place when she makes the decision of giving the only antidote to Yuan Zi Yi (Athena Chu) and leaving herself with the poison uncured; it is because she knew that although she loved Hu Fei (Nie Yuan), Hu Fei loves YZY only. Thus, her sacrifice took place.

Gosh this scene was so sad. I feel sorry for Ching Ling So, she was so pretty too. The guy was such an idiot how could he possibly not care about her and not know that she was poison too. All he cares about was that Ziyi girl. OMG. After all she've done for him that's what she get in return. I mean he was getting mad at her and kept telling her to make the antidote to save ziyi. The sadest part was when she died and he didn't do much.

this movie kind of pissed me off, especially after he lets Gillian die and then waste the next 10 years to watch Athena die too. I really disliked the last girl he ends with!! He should have just stayed with Gillian!

Wu Fei didn't love Ching Ling So though; notice how he was so rude to her when he was rushing her to save Yuen Zi Yi. He had only been staying with Ching Ling So because she had saved his life.
Ching Ling So's death is such a waste in the end though, considering that Yuen Zi Yi never managed to live past the seven years anyway.
