You should aslo read about what Jesus does in the last days. He is mercyful and forgiving to those who ask for it. He is the judge of those who don't.
I guess it's time for you to land.
and im not gonna vote for obama, or global warming bc im studying to b clergy, so i aint gonna vote no moe.
ur right about GOD judging, but that means that he judges the US too, not just countries in the middle east. GOD doesnt really like empires, and thats just what the US is.
I dont think that its fair to say that we are on GOD's side and so therefore, we can go kill innocent ppl.
Besides, I'm pro life (meaning anti-war) bc im a Christian.
not to be too critical, but we shouldnt allegorize narratives in the BIble. Here's my whole point: We should not fit ourselves in with OT narratives, bc then the OT is not really about Jericho, Moses, Israel, etc. but becomes about us.
In other words, God didnt cast judgement on Egypt, but is casting judgement on Iraq. This is easy to do, but proper interpretation avoids this.
Not trying to be disrespectful, but do u agree?
We don't go and kill innocent people either. War is full of tragety and I'm not going to blame our nation for the lost souls (men, women & children) of the war. I do blame Islamic sucker punchers however.
If ur not already aware of just war, Augustine came up with it and attached 7 components that make a war just. (google it if u have time).
With this Iraq war, I dont think that it is just. (we went in there bc of WMDs, which is a just reason, but after no WMDs, were still there, and we are still killing and fighting)
I think the Church's response should not be telling ppl to go vote, (or perhaps not signing up for the army), but should support organizations that bring relief to ppl.
we should help negotiate, give food and medicine, etc.
Im sure that we can kill more ppl, but violence is not always the best answer, bc we should protect innocent lives.
Whenever God was about to destroy Sodom and Gemorah, Abraham stood up and begged God to not be wrathful.
Whenever God was about to destroy the Israelites, Moses stood up and begged (Ex 33) and God repented.
Christians should not be joyful about God (possibly) judging the middle east, but should grieve of their suffering. We value the sanctity of life, and so we should be active in stopping the death o the innocent.
This is just my view
