i owned a 156 JTD 2.4 for 5 years, the only thing it had to have mended were the ignition plates and that was a routine procedure...
it did well over 50.000Km and never missed a single beat...
now i have a 159 JTDm and its 4 months old and true it hasnt done serious milage yet, its working like clockwork...
i dont know what you people do with your cars, mine did ALOT of traveling and never ever broke down or developed faults

It depends a bit i guess,i had an Alfa gtv 3.0 Lusso and after 38.000km the crankshaft broke,sure it's a fun car to drive but what good is it if it needs a rebuild engine after 6 months?
Since 2002 i own a BMW 3.28 and exept for the general maintenance i had to replace a headlight,thats all after 6 years and 234.000km.
Bmw is expensive but it's a quality car,it never let me down.
Im not here to say that italians build bad cars,i'm just saying that germans do it better.

well i drove my 156 from north west london to:
-Nice France, Monacco
-Pisa
-Modena
-Colonge 4x
-Paris
all journeys there and back in 4 years that i've had the car and the local Britain run arrounds, London-Glasgow and so on during the year, the car never ever set a foot wrong *knock on wood*
i guess yours was just built on a friday :D

well a happy thought is that the 159 was engineered by ein german...so it vill last ein souzand years! :D
mine's holding up just peachy so far...im planing to drive it to the Stelvio pass like the ladds in Top Gear did...cant wait for that

Io ho avuto una A3 Tdi del 1999 che mi ha creato solo problemi e due anni fa lo sostituita con una Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Mjet da 90 cv e mi trovo meglio delle Tedesche perchè e affidabile ,consuma poco , ha bassi costi di gestione e sopratutto e mille volte piu bella della Golf , Audi A3 , e Ford Focus

il fatto è che tra una skoda e una vw non c'è nessuna differenza in termini di affidabilità e finiture,solo che ha un prezzo più onesto, congruo ai contenuti,e tutti credono che sia peggiore...di vw e audi pagate pure l'immagine,e vi sentite anche furbi ed esperti di auto,poveri polli...
