We use a tool that is extremely similar to this in my science labs. Its called a smart board and incorporates a physical board, a computer, and a projector. The board acts as a mouse of sorts that you can use to touch anywhere on the
"screen" which is what the projector is using. If you search youtube you can find several videos of people playing star craft using smart boards.

The table(touch screen) is easy to make: A (web)cam inside a box showing upside, a white glas and a projector. The secret is to configure the Touchlib on computer. his hands act like a mouse. touchlib has a mouse driver to enable the touch on the table. As i said the secret is to configure the table and touchlib.

@hollywoodfilmcrew.. yes there is a mouse shown, but its the mouse in the game that responds to his touch, i.e. : if he held his finger on there and dragged it around, the cursor would follow his finger around. You can see it on the far righthand side just before he says "unit 2, move here" on 1:41.. when he touches his finger to the table, the cursor moves to where he touched
