I agree with you 100%. Pavarotti was an instrument, a technical machine that never attempted to portray a character on stage. And you mentioned that he used to have a good mezza voce, I don't recall ever hearing that from him, always strained and uncomfortable; but Kraus and Gedda reigned in that area.

Did it EVER cross anyone's mind that, perhaps,the sheet music Scalera has is WRITTEN in the lower key because HE prefers to play it that way? What is Carrera supposed to do? Stop the recital and insist he get the proper key? Youtubers will always find something to complain about.

Tenortone21: Dude, don't be so sensitive. My comment wasn't directed to you. If you've read a few of the previous posts, most comments expect all versions to be in lockstep. Carrera had to audacity to color outside the lines and gets tsk-tsked for it. It's almost jazz the way he did it and thank god for that.
