if someone came in for an elbow you could just throw a sharp jab to the face or even a quick flurry of punches. Like Bruce Lee said when they come in to you with an attack all you have to do is attack them while they close the gap. Works every time

yeah your right but ... ( 1 month ago by ZBevis)
yeah your right but three rounds into a bout, your body is alot weaker exspecially if you've been knocked around, and that's when most muay thai fighters use their elbows, you rarely see a fighter come out in the 1st round or 2nd attempting hit an opponent with elbows.

ahahahahaha
you dick! i'm 6"5' and i've sparred with people shorter and i've rarely had the chance to perform your downward elbow becoz it leaves you open to attack from your opponents legs, knees mostly, because they only have to raise their arms to cover the head and bring their knee to hit your abs and wind you....

I was always was taught to put the opposite hand over the nose with your hand making a fist and pressing it against your forehead to make sure your arm dosent go anywhere. I figure this makes more sense becuase it can block all but the most precise uppercut and incoming elbows. Also, your elbow strike should guard most of that side of your face and while you rotate, the other side of your face will be away from your opponent making it very difficult for him to strike that side of your face.
OMG Where do I ... ( 1 month ago by whotookdonnierules)
OMG Where do I start? 1. Where is your cover? Why are you throwing the elbow with your arm? Weren't your trained to throw with your body/pivot? 3. Half of the drill techniques are spent with your back facing your opponent...when do you want your back exposed? I don't know, I guess this is what they teach in sport/ring muay thai schools, but imho it is a disservice to muay thai, having been an MT instructor for for 11 years.

The problem is ... ( 4 weeks ago by whotookdonnierules)
The problem is JCSAP123, is that the adage "you fight how you train" is true. So if you practice throwing elbows that way, chances are high that you throw weak elbows with no protection in a fight or in the ring. The technique in this particular video promotes bad habits.
Oh, yes. You are ... ( 4 weeks ago by JCSAP123)
Oh, yes. You are absolutely right... i mean in the sparring or any fight in the ring, its the things that we do in training that are used. its almost like the techniques come out as instinct. Thanks for your reply. Just was forgetting most important thing about the training
