its no hoax , in Europe we have no problem with its spreading because we don not have the temperature in the water for them to breed, at least in Romania where i'm from, they need at least 23 degrees celsius to breed.
Oh and they do jump , when the water gets hotter , if they see a boat they will try to jump in it I personally caught 3 of these just by rowing on a lake .

Silver Asian carp were first imported to the United States in the 1970s. Catfish farmers brought them here to remove algae and other suspended matter from their ponds. The Environmental Protection Agency started a program allowing cities to use the fish to help clean the water in sewer treatment plant ponds.
