mogwai rules hard. someone want to explain the significance of tears correlating with the cutting of onions? the girl in the beginning had tears that led off into a series of events that all lead up to her cutting onions. is the significance that of some emotional events that people cry over are over nothing? it spirals out of control into a turn of events that in the all ended up being nothing.

Likely it represents how fleeting a memory can be. Maybe the guy who slit his throat in the tub was a friend or relative? Its likely just a big stream of consciousness, triggered perhaps, by the physical reaction of crying when exposed to the onions.
