Hmmm...are you talking about not using any plywood underneath the foam? I thought there was an article in Model Railroader that talked about somebody just using the 2 inch foam without any plywood. I can't remember which issue it was though. I suppose you could do it but I prefer to have good support underneath the foam.

I didn't lay any of the track on the foam. I have 3/4 inch plywood underneath it.

thanks for posting, i just started with the foam today, made a couple experimental hills. I got a quick question, whats that yellow brush type thing you're using? im assuming you can buy one at a hardware store?

Yes. It was a pretty cheap one too. You don't need anything to fancy.
