Was this Origin of ... ( 6 months ago by opinionated666)
Was this Origin of the Universe or politics? In any event he's such an optimist... Weapons of Mass Destruction since his time, skyrocket. Peace in the Middle East again seems totally hopeless. The way we are going our grandchildren may not even know what the term civilization means. Since Dr, Sagan doesn't exist anymore he can't see his oops!!!unless he was wrong and still is somewhere with consciousness of the cosmos and little earthlings messing up blue planet and our time while on Earth.

What a man. What joy to revisit cosmos again and again. May the quest be as joyful to the young as it was to Carl Sagan himself
Actually the number ... ( 5 months ago by VoteNixon2008)
Actually the number of nukes worldwide since 1990 has dropped dramatically The U.S.alone has gone from about 30,000 in the 70's to about 3,000, some counts around 1700 left.True these are more than enough to destroy earth. I'm not sure if N.Korea actually made a nuke or if they set off a bunch of TNT and scattered some radiation.I don't know if the Pakistani nukes are operant seeing as how the pakistani physicist thought that his bombs could harness the power of Genies(No, im not making this up)
The healing of the ... ( 5 months ago by VoteNixon2008)
The healing of the Ozone layer is one of the little know sucesses of science. All it took was some simple legislation to ban certain freon refrigerants and to capture the CFCs. Remember to properly dispose of refrigerators and air conditioners and buy only Ozone safe aerosol sprays. We've made a lot of progress but everyone needs to lend a hand to maintain the progress so far. It's not a big deal anyway because compressed air is free and recycling fridges and A/cs can even get you some money

Oh, how I miss Carl Sagan. I adored this man when I studied Geology & Computer Science in college. It is his life that inspired me to build & automate some of the most sophisticated steel mills in the world.
He still inspires me today.
Carl Sagan was, like ... ( 3 months ago by HoloMatter)
Carl Sagan was, like all scientists, peacefull and he cherished life in knowing that it is the rarest thing in the scale of space. nuclear weapons were always seen as a threat by the people who knew their power, Einstein knew they were terrible and even his rival Werner Heisenberg refused to build the Nazis nuclear weapons. however, today countries like Iran can build these weapons without a guilty conscience because they did not invent them, and therefore do not realise their power with restraint.

I am consoled in the fact that after it all, once im dead. I'll either know (having a soul) of the existence of the universe, or souls not existing and therefore no longer me and maybe being at rest.

HoloMatter,it make me laugh how you use Iran as an example when infact Iran do not have nukes, maybe we should give a more accurate example like the USA or Israel who have over 200 nukes supplied to them by the USA.A rather missinformed comment by yourself.
