Wow...you guys are real juvenile criticising things you don't undrstand. Why would the writers of the scripture create a fictional animal. Why would they observe hippos and then exaggerate the description. Serves no purpose. There are other ancient people who have made depictions of animals that can only be described as what we know as dinosaurs. Dinosaurs and man were contemporaries.

just a point of clarification, Genesis does not record any of the names Adam gave to any animals so the talking of ommitted names from a list is a non sequitor (sp?) because there is no list.

It's really simple and no one is gonna change someone else's mind on this. For some people the fact that life opperates on mechanistic principles is enough. For others it isn't. Most people who believe in the soul still seek out the mechanitic workings of life. They use medicine to heal their bodies. They know the blood circulates. The difference isnt stupidity it's that they don't see the mechanics by which life functions as a philosophically sound explanation for the source of life.

if the churches and "good" christian parents do their "jobs" why do we need the bible and creation in public schools? and do we have enough time in our already-troubled schools to squeeze in the bible? how about other religions? do we have enough hours in a school day for that? how about, i don't know, making religious education an elective in college, maybe? can we do that?
