The Pirates won the cup in 94, I was at the cup clinching game it was sweeeett.

The Rhode Island Reds are unaffiliated to the current Providence Bruins.
Actually, the Hartford Wolfpack is the same franchise as the Reds, due to rellocations.
The Maine Mariners moved to Providence in 1992.

To Portland Pirates fans, the main source of hatred towards Providence is BECAUSE Ed Anderson moved the team to Providence and left Portland without hockey for a year. Portland fans hate Providence for that. However, Mariners games had pathetic attendance due to poor treatment of the Mariners from the Boston Bruins....Boston did not have a strong farm system back then, now they know what they are doing, love Boston Bruins, hate Providence! GO PIRATES
