hey spunk - well, i'd say yeah. Cuz when you use the brush and you dont use it again for, say, 3 weeks and dont wash it for a month. The makeup sat there for that long and most likely have collected a month's worth of bacteria buildup. It's more ideal to wash them right away specially if you dont use it often. So that it doesnt collect gunk

hi!! I made your "home made brush cleaner" and it turned out great! so much came out of the brushes! BUT, one doubt: should I rinse off the brushes after dipping into the cleaner, or just let it dry? I don't want to lose the conditioner "effect" on the hair, but seemed to be some how little stiff afterwards... thanks! you ROCK ! the best!

I just bought a set of smashbox brushes (the all white ones). I'm afraid to use them because i'm afraid i'll stain the bristles. Any tips on how to prevent them from staining? Or is it sufficient to clean them after every use?

hi karine -you can just let it dry, the mixture is mostly water, so I dont find it necessary to rinse. The bristles will dry alittle stiff thats normal, but it will soften again once you give it a quick fluffing.

hey Lepooke - yeah just clean them after every use. Extra effort but it will keep your brushes white and prestine :)

don't u need to rinse it off after that. im juz asking.. because, if i were to use the homemade cleanser with the detergent in it, wouldn't it have any effect on the makeup or on the face? i was just wondering. need to clear that up. sorry if im being a bit paranoid.. your tutorials are great!!

hey ekyn - hehe I completely understand. If you prefer, you can rinse, but I really find that the mixture is mostly water. So, I personally dont find the need to rinse.

hey darkangel - yes, those are short handled bruhes that are usually in a 9-piece set, and... yeah FAKES. MAC doesnt have 9-piece brush sets.

i used mac cleanser on my 187 last night, it came up lovely and clean.
this morning it was really sticky and i needed to use way too much foundation, it also didn't feel as soft.

Hi Lisa - sounds like you will need to deep clean the brush using shampoo and warm water. I have a video on deep-cleaning brushes if you havent seen that. So try deep cleaning and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Amanda - you can do quick-clean by using a brush cleanser every use. Then do a deep-clean using gentle shampoo and warm water once a week. I have video on deep cleaning as well.
