The cross should never of been symbolised as something good because we all know what it was used for.
My point is that i find this video offensive because it's using themes which shouldn't be appropiate for the beautiful song.
in a nutshell,
open your mind.
it's not too late. taboos carry the liability of being shortcuts to thinking.
it's not too late to open yourself to the beauty of her art.
i'm quite in awe of her when she 'goes there' like she does in this piece.
her song that garner the most mainstream appeal don't even come close to representing the power of her ability to create and shake up the masses.
i wish everything she created was on this level, but i'm grateful for the work she produces that IS on this level.
she will always have my love, respect, and admiration.
Something not maybe understand but i'll put it simply and assume your open minded enough to consider it.
She is being used to promote dark ways, notice the themes being used all around her - they all orbit around death and suffering of some kind.
She could in some ways lure people into a much darker embrace of life, her music could be so much more healthy for the mind than this dark theme we see.
Not wanting to start another religion fight here, Im just sure theres something really clever in this piece of art, and would like to know what you guys think
It basically has one meaning, yet you can read it from at least two different perspectives.
Whatever you did (good or bad or indifferent) for one of the least of my brothers (meaning, the most weak, the most unfortunate, etc.)... you also did that essentially to Matthew. The offense you commit against the Africans, you might as well be committing against me. It's a powerful statement, no doubt.
The passage says: "The Lord says I was hungry you gave me food, I was thirsty you gave me drink..." The righteous answers " Lord when...? " The King (God/Jesus) will answer "whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers ... you did it to me"
The cross is meant for attention. If you only see the cross but not the message then you should listen to the song more carefully.
