Rep. Monique Davis Advocates Being Atheistic About Atheists
Uploaded by: slightlymentholated
Video Description:
Insulting words from Miss Monique Davis, Illinois State Representative.
Such a lovely display of tolerance.
And yes, I know, the date is wrong. I don't feel like re-rendering it, and the exact date is unimportant -- the fact that someone can be an elected official while displaying this type of bigotry is the main point.

Ms. Davis says, "I don't think children should even know your philosophy exists." There is some irony to be found in wanting to pretend that atheists (those who think god doesn't exist) don't exist!
I know that I've taken some liberty with the word "atheistic" (since it strictly means "no god") but the word "a-atheistical" looks really odd.
That clear things up?
She accidentally slipped and admitted what she believes: atheists have no right to participate in our society. She's still an idiot!
Davis is shrill, bigoted, intolerant, rude and insulting.
How could my comments against her be racist? By saying that, it is you who is the racist, to the point of presuming that you even know my ethnic background. Are you aware of who all my grandparents are/were?
Your nonsense is exactly the type of irrational and hateful religious crap that Ms Davis thinks and expresses. No wonder you support her opinions.
Atheism is a facet of rational thought. It is an end product that accompanies higher education and safer societies.
Atheism is also a huge positive force, in opposition to harmful, irrational religious superstition.
I agree drug use is destructive. It is nothing to do with atheism. Most people are religious, and drug users (and criminals) are overwhelmingly religious.
Religion is dying in Canada and Europe.
it will, eventually, die completely out
unless it destroys us all first -- but hell, i guess even then it'll be gone too
I used to think it was just going to die out too, due to education. It was 9/11 that made me start actively helping that process. Once you acknowledge that religion is evil, you have to fight it, or your silence aids it. That's sounds extreme, but it's not. The fight is on many levels. Letting fundies know different opinions exist. Showing moderate theists that atheists are loving and caring. Supporting the NATO mission in Afghanistan. Lots of work to be done!
The abundant moderate believers are enablers of the problem as well; fostering a culture that allows fundamentalism to thrive by lending some type of credibility to the source text.
