Props to Brian for attempting to make his voice go high, but the song is very singable whatever octave is most comfortable. I'm a bass, and I do ok singing it.

Most genius man of the 60's, Brian Wilson. Could pull stuff out of his butt that didn't sound like anything else, and you didn't even need a professional Beatles decipherer to understand his lyrical meaning. Next time you talk about that "fatso" think of how much you apparently love "Don't Worry Baby," a song he wrote, and that maybe he's more capable than you. Maybe it was meant to be sung like that at that concert. Maybe he wanted to demonstrate how much he'd changed.

well said, Brian was a superb singer in the Beach Boys' hayday, but i dare say, like all of us, his voice has been subject to the effects of aging and that makes this particular rendition of the song sound strained, but i comfort myself in the fact that youtube has several videos of the orignal song, and with Brian singing too, well worth a watch

Even though you are correct about his voice being bad but you have to cut him some slack. He was recovering from his heavy cocaine use and huge overload on food. He was getting over all these problems and his depression and his pipes had suffered a toll because of it.

What an incredible video..Brian was in such awful shape here it's amazing he remembered the vocals..I dont think anyone can blame him for not hittin most of the falsetto notes but why the hell would they included this song on the setlist knowing his condition..this period in beach boys history is pretty gloomy.

I apologize for being so negative. Of coarse Brian Wilson really shouldn't have been in this position considering that it doesn't sound like he was ready for it.
Its just this Utah guy wrote my e mail and got all negative and hostile just because I told him the person singing was Brian Wilson.
I wish Brian hadn't had such an abusive dad. No doubt that really had an awful influence on his life and career. It was such a bright beginning, and that darkness really messed with Brian.
