and its more like 50,000 fans...this car is more nitch in the states than you think...Ive talked to more people from engineers and college students and they all seem to agree with me that this is Probibly one of the better designed WRX's that Subaru ever designed...my Father for example is Lead Liason Engineer for Peterbilt Motors...and hardend American Biased vehicle buyer...even he Likes the Looks better than the previous vers infact Test drove one and Loved it...sooooo?

The new looks were designed to appeal to the masses who enjoy generic/bland don't stare at me kind of cars. Sure they succeeded on that front, but they lost the loyalty of the hard-edged crowd who bought WRX's & STi's. Now look at their sales. New Imprezas are selling very well, WRX's are selling very badly. What does that tell you?

the Mazda speed 3 has even more basic Tin can looks than this does. so I dont get it...but i sold my 06 mustang bought one and Love it. Suprisingly my insurance stayed the same...but dude if you just drove one sat in one atleast...you'd understand.

well atleast no one will want to key my car or steal it sencethey thinks its a POS...but infact mechanically its far superior...ohwell I guess I like a Budget BMW is Plain bage Wallpaper Like Car and Driver says...dude it really is awesome to drive and the seats are WAY more comfortable, and a hell of alot more functional rear seatng. tell you want Just test drive one...you'll be shocked...Oh and the de-cromed Sport grill and smoked tail light covers definatley improves this car.

The Old sedan STi was .93gs The new hatch is .90gs.
The hatch is 3354 pounds while the sedan was 3285 pounds.

2008 subaru WRX 3,347 lbs.
That equated to 155 extra Lbs dealing with better quality materials, interior features airbags, framed doors, and its slightly larger car based on the shortend Legacy Platform and better isolating material Might I also explain that the new one has 185% stiffer frame...

and .03g is not atall noticeabe...I should Know, I Track tested both and the car and the only complaint is that it rolls a little more into the corners....but stiill its a 5% diffrence.

.03 is very notacable according to Csaba Csere. Car and Driver testers are professional drivers. And the extra weight of better quality materials is just a piss poor excuse to turn it into a socker mom car. More power and its slower than the old car. I say its time to fire there manager.
I know 4 STi owners that say they would buy and EVO X over this bastard child of a SAAB and a Minivan anyday.

1. it just swallows gas like water
2.the rpm in america only gets up to 7000 rpm and in japan it's up to 9000 rpm!!!

Actually... no. The 08 STi is better than the older versions in terms of performance. Edmunds' furst review of the car netted a 4.6 sec 0-60, 72mph slalom, 0.93g lateral, and 13.3 sec Quarter mile. Best Motoring has done a 5 car race in Tsukuba circuit with the 08 STi starting in last position and ending in 1st place against 07 STi, 07 EVO GSR, and both EVO X 5MT/SST. The understeer on the STi is purposely set from the factory for safety.

I'd also like to point out several advantages of the new Hatch over the old Sedan - Lower PMOI, shorter overhang, lower engine placement for low COG, Dual AVCS, more HP, and a new Double A-arm rear susp. No strut clunk, no bobblehead problems like the old Sedans had. Please tell me what advantages in terms of performance does the older Sedan have compared to the new hatch. Also, once modded, the car's handling is increased and becomes on par with a similarly modded EVO X.

In addition, the EVO-X's S-AWC's advantage almost becomes useless once the car's suspension is modified. Since the car already handles very well modded, the AYC does not work to correct errors as much. Check out GT Channel's take on the Cusco EVO vs HKS STi vid. Both use similar Advan tires, and Manabu Orido (Super GT race driver and Best Motoring regular) actually prefers the STi over the EVO X.

In conclusion, I'd like to point out that judging a car as inferior simply because of biased magazine reviews and subjective looks (without research, understanding physics, and/or real world experience) will only discredit ones credibility as a car enthusiast, and will eventually lead everyone else assuming the person is a fake ass riceboy.
