Have you spoken to the RAF Museum? They will be more than helpful also the Royal Air Force Association. There were two great ground attack pilots who wrote the book, Grp Cpt Scott was one and Roly Beamont was the other. I was in the RAF some 7000 flying hours, in a much later era I would add but names like Desmond Scott, Beamont, Duncan-Smith are legends in the RAf for their role in developing IDS techniques! Honestly, write to the curator of the RAF Museum at Hendon, London and ask away!!

Started on JPs, Hawk, C130, and back to hawk. Then 757, Harvard, Stearman to name but few. There is a Typhoon, in the RAF museum and one at Duxford, alas not fliers but there is a Tempest that will fly in about 3 years. The problem is the Napier engine it a brute apparently. Two UK magazines are worth trying to catch, Aeroplane Monthly and Flypast. There staff are experts and again very helpful. Will have a look at you videos!

"There maybe only one flyable Typhoon left in the world at Duxford i think" Sorry.. if only. There is only one Typhoon left in the World (as far as can be determined) and that is at RAF Hendon Museum - saw it today. There are a no Tempests flying although strong rumour has it that one Sabre powered Tempest might be flying in the next couple of years. Imagine the sound of that fantastic Sabre !

I've just read Des Scoot's book again recently, after I cleared Mum's bookshelf of Dad's WW2 books. I didn't realise Des was a mate of his until Mum mentioned it, as Dad flew Wellington's in 75Squadron.

You have made a tenuous claim. Des had four daughters, none of them has a son by the name of H Lane. Do you have the DNA to prove you are related to Des Scott?
