ace11rothstein, how ... ( 2 months ago by mesmerizedbyamy)
ace11rothstein, how much do you really know about hip-hop OR chuck-D? His style has always been "off-beat" (irregular) i have 9 PE albums. How many do you know about, jackass?
I can't believe you ... ( 2 months ago by eadg52)
I can't believe you people have the audacity to question Chuck's ability. Great artists move forward and, to me, that's what Chuck D. has done. Sometimes working around the beat is an element of swing, I hear nothing indicating a lack of ability. What I hear is sophistication. Perhaps all of you would like to produce something relevant and original. Any of you critics have legendary recordings to your credit???
I know enough to ... ( 2 months ago by ace11rothstein)
I know enough to state clearly that on the first 5 PE albums, Chuck didn't sound like a stroke victim. Every beat fit his rhymes like a glove from Bum Rush to Greatest Misses. PE's decine started in 1994 with Muse Sick. If YOU knew anything about hip-hop you'd never make such a stupid comment like that. Chuck is clearly not keeping up with the new beats.
Audacity? When did ... ( 2 months ago by ace11rothstein)
Audacity? When did Chuck D become an emperor or a king? He's just an artist and one who is clearly on the decline. PE's best days were in Bush's term (and by Bush I mean Bush 41). And it doesn't matter if I produced anything or not. No music is better than bad. The fact that you are this defensive suggests that you don't have a credible defense of PE's music since 1992.
And if you find sophistication in Chuck D's rhyming, I have a stool sample that you'll just love (and I produced it myself).
First of all, Chuck ... ( 2 months ago by eadg52)
First of all, Chuck D.'s place in music history is secure. Secondly, if you read my post the sophistication I was referring to is rhythmic. And I hope to God you aren't gonna try to tell me you are an authority on rap or worse yet a Jewish rapper (bet your stool would trump THAT). I am only a professional musician with over 40 years experience. And for the record, most rap/hip hop is misogynist BS. I like PE for the message and this most definitely has a valid one. Take a pill, son.

So I guess you're saying that the way this song progresses in that much different from let's say, "Welcome to the Terrordome"?
As for "keeping up with the new beats", not counting Bum Rush the Show, since when did PE try to "keep up" with anyone, they always had people trying to keep up with them.
Actually it is much ... ( 2 months ago by ace11rothstein)
Actually it is much different than Welcome to the Terrordome (my favorite PE track). Anyone who has listened to that track over and over knows that that beat was made for Chuck D's rhyming style.
And when I wrote "keeping up with the new beats", I meant that in a music creation sense, not in a trend-setting sense i.e. Chuck's rhymes are not coexisting with the beats he's rapping on. It's like Chuck is listening to one beat and rhyming and the studio puts in another beat.

I enjoyed There's a Poison Goin' On from 1999 so whatchu talkin' bout!
Oh so you're ... ( 2 months ago by mesmerizedbyamy)
Oh so you're problem is not with the rhyming itself but with the matching of the rhythm with the rhyme then?
You do know that Terminator X left the group, right?
I don't blame ... ( 2 months ago by ace11rothstein)
I don't blame Terminator X for leaving the group. It was clear after Muse Sick that his services were no longer desired. Truly a shame.
But the bigger loss was the breakup of the Bomb Squad. This collection knew how to orchestrate a beat.
I have no problem with the rhyming per se, but if the rhyming doesn't sync with the song, it sounds terrible. Frankly though, I can't think of a beat that could sync with this.
Terminator left the ... ( 2 months ago by mesmerizedbyamy)
Terminator left the whole industry (and the art) not just the group so it wasn't personal. But what you said about the Bomb Squad is correct and that is my point - - They DID know how to produce beats. Their breakup resulted in what you don't like about PE's (and prob. other artists') sounds. Blame the the production, not the rhymes. Now, Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos was some TIGHT work!

You are an idiot. You know who are traitors and insurgents? THE PEOPLE WHO LIBERATED THE US FROM BRITISH CONTROL. Those are civilians. Citizens of the US should thank civilians who were guilty of treason and terrorism for freeing them from the British. People are so clueless and blinded by FOX news garbage. Thank citizens for your freedom...not the military or government.
thats true even ... ( 3 days ago by Onemellowfellow)
thats true even from the revolutionary war sense. sure there were secret societies manipulating the events in the conflict, but if it wasn't for the everyday citizens gathering and organizing anti british mobs in the streets, the british would have won hands down...literally.
