In early August of 2005, it was revealed that Machiko Soga (aka Rita Repulsa) had been fighting pancreatic cancer for almost two years. On the morning of May 7th, 2006, she ultimately lost that battle, and her body was found by a friend visiting her home. She was 68 years old. :'(

Now that I think about it, Carla Perez did make Rita less intimidating and her costume suck. The orginal Rita (Soga) put fear in the Rangers which made them have that "Oh Shit!!" look on their faces when she did something. Then when this new Rita comes along (Perez), the Rangers have that "Oh, Rita's up to her old tricks again. Well maybe after we stop her, we can grab a coffee" look. LMAO. It's true.
