Does this technique ... ( 1 month ago by iTokki)
Does this technique help hit the ball more higher ? I seem to have a problem with hitting it low to the ground and it isn't a problem with the loft because I tried a 9.5 and a 12.0 and both had little changes.

Great tip as always Shawn; quick question. Since the ball is forward of center and there are several inches between the the club face and back of ball, are your eyes on the back of the ball (your 'eye ball' video) or on the club face in this scenario?
Thanks.
Good question and ... ( 1 month ago by clemshaw)
Good question and the answer is always on a spot that remains in place; so it may as well be the ball! :) It can also be a blade of grass behind the ball that you focus on whipping the club head through;if it is the club, this is no good because the club is going to move way too much and way too fast and will make you way too dizzy! :)

I did try the set-up that you recommended and it works just fine. I play an old-school, Composite Maple Ping driver, as I am re-discovering the game, and with this small adjustment, the club I was going to put to pasture came alive. I finally made correct contact (250-60 Yds.)! Thank you.

Hey Shawn - great stuff as always.
I took your 3 swings and made a snapshot of the start and impact positions. You should see how many lines I've drawn comparing your head, shoulders, knees, hips, hands placement.
There's a definite 'dropping' of your body at impact, but your contact is always clean. When I try to do this I seem to hit behind the ball by 6-10" or so.
Do you get clean contact because of the weight shift? Is that what does it? It's the only thing I can think of. Thanks.

thanks for the tip!! my driver head has now so many "beautiful scratch marks" on top that now it's completely white on top =))
Shawn, I've read ... ( 1 month ago by lhgolfer50)
Shawn, I've read Bobby Clampett's book The Impact Zone and he states that super slow motion video of pro's drivers at impact show a slightly descending blow to the ball. Can you comment on that since you are advocating an upward arc to the ball?

Great question!
Depending on the type of driver that you use; if you use a very recent driver, with the centre of gravity low and back in the head, you can play the ball lower on the tee and closer to centre of the stance and use that method; if you have a very deep face driver from 5 years ago, this method does not match the club as you will not get enough lauch angle to benefit from it; this video is to raise awareness as to what happens when you choose to play the ball more forward...

thats what he said not to do if you weren't listening, that happens when you face the ball with your body which changes the bottom point of the swing relative to the ball.

Thanks for the video Shawn. I notice that when I hit my drive especially, my front foot fans out towards the target. Any tips on helping me fix this? It even happens when I don't swing very hard. Any left-hip mobility drills or anything like that? Thanks for your help!
Hey Shawn, really ... ( 1 week ago by ruud76)
Hey Shawn, really helpful again there...quick question : I have a friend who is struggling with his swing - he consistently hits the ball fat, and to combat this he moves the ball right back in his stance (even with driver). However even after doing this he's continuing to hit the ground first, and he doesn't even use his driver any more! Any ideas on what might be wrong with the mechanics/drills that might help?

The best videos for you to watch are the "Tilted Spirale", the "One Leg Drill" and the "One Leg Part 2"...then watch "Eye Ball" video to make sure you are NOT TRYING TO HIT THE BALL!! That your focus is "Through the ball"...:) Thanks for the comment, Shawn

This one is easy! Tell him to STOP TRYING TO HIT THE BALL!! Have him watch the "Through the ball" video; then "Contact and spin" and "Compress through the ball" and all the other videos I talk about in the comment I answered below this one;
Thank for the question as this is very common;

Hey Joe Pink!
You are probably already slightly out of balance in the backswing; have a look at my "Leverage Power" and "Perpetual Motion Drill" videos for more insight; It would also be wise to check your posture at address too..."Posture and Balance" and my second posture video as well...all are on my website on the "You Tube Shawn" page; Shawn

OK; now I know what you mean; this is your sequence; you are whipping before you get a chance to brace properly into the left side and before you let the arms fall; what happens is your body gets in the way...Recap on the "Tempo and Timing" video and the "Downswing Weightshift" and "Sequence Power Drills" videos;
