this is truly a barret masterpiece.what is hard to accept about this song is the fact that it is coming from that other side to you, it does not take you there.
he inverted the affect- you have to be able to accept that to recognize the message.
this is a masterpiece. The echoes are their best music,but this is a different sort of expression, completely out this world, dreamy and halucinogenic, but equily high and worthy.
it is a playfuly insanity, and i wanna stay a child forever :-)))))

I might be the only person from my high school who owns Piper at the Gates of Dawn. But I did my best to spread the music of Pink Floyd to my friends before i graduated this summer. I spent a lot of time listening to the Floyd throughout my junior amd senior year and hanging out with my friend mary ;]

Hans Keller (the interviewer) was a classicaly trained musician. I guess he just couldn't see the abstract brilliance of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd.
It was a great example "old style...meet the new"!
To answer your question, yes, Keller did act a bit like an ass towards these guys whereas both Syd and Roger shrugged his comments off, stood their ground and held their composure very well!

haha that was great, "a little bit of a regression toward childhood!" though true, Hans did not see the shifting age of the PAYING audience- music was no longer exclusive to the courts of kings; oh, self-important adults, ye will forever stifle and poo-poo the creative and young...
but I have to defend Hans- it would have taken a crystal ball to forsee the success of this garage band, for their playing was pretty undeveloped compared to the ummagumma version a few years later...

Damn these lyrics are just amazing. I consider them the best band ever, this song shows why. Though i prefer the live version from ummagumma.
And Keller, just so you know, it WASNT loud enough! =D
