Nice message. It's very apparent that there is some major profit motivation associated with Mario Lavandeiro's internet blog character and that he is a now a corporate creature while trying to maintain his internet "street cred" so to speak.
In the context of Mario Lavandeiro, this "phenonmenon" as you call it is really is of no consequence because he is hardly an artist. However, in the context of the music industry, it takes on an entirely different level of importance.

Clive Davis and Simon Cowell have a different skill. They have the ability to spot real talent and provide constructive feedback. Not many folks (especially those with big egos) like to hear what they have to say but smart performers at least listen. Just as you see tons of self delusioned kids show up to try out for American Idol, there are performers that think they can dress like they did in 1985 and play a tune from 1985 and think the audience actually wants to watch them perform.

clive davis rose out of the legal department at columbia, he was the guy that started the lawyer/record exec. trend. his expertise lies in the manipulating and wrangling necesary to rise in a large company. he says he discovered janis joplin but she was already signed to a record deal and was well enough known to be playing at the monterey pop festival when he first saw her. simon cowell on the other hand is not worth deconstructing.
