I don't think it's fair that cyclists can cycle on roads.
Where i live, cyclists don't fucking bother with cycle paths made for them, they use the road.
And they don't even pay road tax.
Excuse me whilst i drive by them and smack them one with a baseball bat.
Pfft so what if the ... ( 1 month ago by IcedReaver)
Pfft so what if the girl had been drinking?
That puts her out of control of her actions, while the dumbass sober cyclist thought he was above the law and therefore he should do nothing to avoid the accident.
He's a proper nob head.
Anything he gets is too light tbh.

Can't we all just enjoy the clip without going on with more political crap?!
Some cyclists are clearly irresponsible and some are and the same goes of car drivers. You should worry about being safe yourself.

road tax? its ... ( 1 month ago by jamesattack1)
road tax? its called infrastructure development, and we all pay for that in our taxes. ROads require the massive subsidies to exist. Cars consume massive amounts of energy + materials. Bikes dont. INDISPUTABLE FACT.
Forgive us cyclists who care + are doing something for the world + our future children.

Uhhh do you pay taxes as a BICYCLE owner?
No.
If you own a car, you can't drive it on the roads FULL STOP.
And if you DO pay taxes to cycle, where's your Tax Disc at then son?
I didn't think so.
As for complaining about "caring for your environment" unless your bike WASN'T created in a factory that uses fossil fuels to create it and what not fair enough.
And besides, i drive a car that does about 45mpg so you can't say that i'm doing anything wrong.
I can buy a Hummer if you want....

`Cycle paths`? ... ( 4 weeks ago by tribble97)
`Cycle paths`? There is no more obligation on cyclists to use cycle paths than there is on motorists to use motorways in preference to A and B roads! What`s more cycle paths are typically poorly designed, inconvenient, littered with `Cyclist Dsimount` signs and strewn with broken glass. Ample research also shows that cyclists are actually safer on the road than on a cycle path due to all the additional junctions which need to be created in order to allow a cycle path to cross side roads!
`Road Tax` was ... ( 4 weeks ago by tribble97)
`Road Tax` was actually abolished back in the 1930`s! This was replaced by a vehicle licence fee intended to reinforce the fact that using a motor vehicle on the public road is a privilege, not a right, and can only be done under licence. More recently the vehicle licence has been replaced by a pollution tax, with the fee paid reflecting the amount of C02 a given vehicle emits. Low emission cars don`t pay this pollution tax either of course bikes don`t emit CO2 at all.

Umm you're french.
You obviously don't understand what the UK laws etc about cyclists are.
I was also arguing with this guy who i just found out was Canadian.
I apologise for that, you're probably right with the laws regarding your country but not for Britain.
Array ( 4 weeks ago by IcedReaver)
What?!
No, there's MORE taxes than ever in Britain.
They never abolished the road tax.
They kept the road tax AND the tax that you pay depends on your CO2 emissions.
However, my dad drives an X5 and that is regarded as "less economic" than the likes of some Porsche.
Last time i checked, my X5 does about 30mpg combined, and a porsche wouldn't get past 20mpg combined.
Where's the justice in that?
Check your history. ... ( 3 weeks ago by tribble97)
Check your history. `Road Tax`, as a hypothecated tax was abolished back in the 1930`s. Even when it was spent directly on road maintenance the majority of funds for road repairs came from local authority taxes. `Road tax` is just another tax and certainly does not grant motorists any privileges over other road users. UK `Road tax` is a bargain compared to the motorway tolls many other countries pay, especially for a group 1 car like my own.
Live in France now, ... ( 3 weeks ago by tribble97)
Live in France now, but British by birth. I also worked in the highways and road safety field when in the UK, so I do know what I am taking about. The latest version of The Highway Code clearly states that the use of cycle facilities `is not compulsory`. (Rule 61)and also that the `Use of cycle lanes is not compulsory`. (Rule 63). To learn more on the dangers of segregated cyclepaths search for `Cyclecraft` (the official safe cycling handbook) and take a look at the infrastructure pages.

P.s Here`s a good quote on `Road Tax` and the demand of drivers that motor taxes be spent entirely on `improving` the publics road system to the benefit of private motorists. It is taken from J.S. Dean`s classic treatise on road safety from 1947, `Murder Most Foul: a study of the road deaths problem`.
`...one might as well say that the drink taxes ought to be devoted to the construction and improvement of public houses or the duties on cosmetics to the establishment of beauty parlours.`

You seem to be ... ( 2 weeks ago by Godbyeshorts)
You seem to be confused, as James rightly points out there is no such thing as road tax in the UK. There is however VED which zero emissions vehicles (like bicycles) don't have to pay. I'm sure you'll agree issuing thousands of cyclists with a free tax disk would be a waste of money.
Also paying VED gives you no more right to use the road than any motorist, cyclist or pedestrian because the roads are paid for out of general taxation which everyone pays (including cyclists)

I love messed up comedy. I ride a bike and drive a car, and it does annoy me when people complain that cyclists don't pay any road tax.

Comments such as ... ( 1 day ago by tribble97)
Comments such as madjoe`s are a typical response of those who use `comedy` to define and marginalise out-groups of all kinds. Doubtless you would defend the racist `jokes` of the likes of Manning and Jim Davidson in the same way. Whatever the target such `jokes` are a first step along a path which, when taken to it`s logical conclusion, leads directly to the gas chamber doors. As Trevor Griffiths wrote in his play `Comedians` each joke being it`s own cyanide pellet, it`s own `Final solution`.
P.s. any who doubt ... ( 1 day ago by tribble97)
P.s. any who doubt the validity of my response to madjoe should read up on the work of T.W. Adorno and Jane Elliot. The Transport Reseach Laboratory report `Drivers perceptions of cyclists` also concludes that cyclists are the victims of out-group prejudice. Also, consider the comments one sees in the British media. David Thomas argued in the Mail that cyclists should be prevented from breeding and Emma Parker-Bowles, extending the logic, has called for the `humane extermination` of cyclists.
PPs. It is also ... ( 1 day ago by tribble97)
PPs. It is also interesting to consider the way this cartoon portrays `The cyclists` as being quite literally `alien` and as returning to their `hive`. Portraying the members of an out-group as being less than human is a typical ploy of the fascist-minded. We all know how Hitler`s propaganda portrayed the Jews as being rats. Similarly Bonnie Greer, speaking of her hatred of cyclists on the BBC`s `Grumpy old women`, called for cyclists to be treated harshly as they were no more than `rodents`...
