Thanks, that was very useful for beginners like me. A question, though: is it possible to reduce the size of the image without reducing the quality? (or perhaps the question should be does the crispness of the image decrease when you reduce it in this way?)

of course it is, it actually makes the quality better when resizing to a smaller size. As making it bigger it will lose quality and it will look squarey, e.g. take some blocks on the ground "Squashing them to a smaller size will make every pixel even better by resizing to a higher size dimension by spreading the blocks for example will lose quality in that way".

Is there a way of keeping the quality of an image the same when I resize them to a larger photo? Everytime I resize photos to appear bigger, it always comes off looking very pixelized and it loses the quality from when it was smaller. When it looked sharper and neater..
No, because your ... ( 3 months ago by snowdevil78)
No, because your smaller image only is composed of only so many pixels. If you want them picture to be bigger, Photoshop has to magically conjure up new pixels to fill in the new amount of pixel data required. It does this by approximating the upscaled version, but blurring is inevitable.

I have noticed that if i change the units to percent and use an increment or decrement of 10% (for example, if im doing an enlargement i use 110 percent) and do that several times I keep better image quality than by keying in a particular size and hitting ok. I have that method recorded as an action.
