As someone has already told you, he killed her because he was upset that she made him promises....I assume she promised that she would be faithful, that she loved him, that they would be together forever, etc....and according to him she was lying, she never meant to keep those promises. In other words, she was doing to him what men do to women all the time...(I'm kidding, guys...Relax)...He was so hurt by this, he lost it and he killed her and was in prison thinking back over all that happened.

OK I get it finally. This song's about the girl pissing him off because she never kept any of the promises that she made to him and then at the very end he kills her and finally getting arrested for it.

I was 16 in 1983 when this came out. I absolutely loved this group even though I hated new-wave and normally only listened to Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Dokken etc.

Let's see when this song was playing it was 1983...I was 12 and in 7th grade playing a game of Pac Man on my Atari 5200 (one after the original 2700). Star Wars: Return of the Jedi played in the theaters. I also had my first computer Texas Intruments TI99 4A with a cassete player hooked to it to play a program. I would throw my sister's cabbage patch doll across the room. Yeah this song brings me back some place in time. It was like Putin on the Ritz. Now I'm a 37 :)
