There is a mistake in this video. I saw that "Tió" is translated (in the song of the video) into "man" but it is not correct. Tió doesn't mean man , Tió means a piece of wood. There is another spanish word : Tio that means man but is not this case. Althought Tió (piece of wood) and Tio (the burglar way to call man) are quite similar are NOT same.

You are right about that, however, I think the 'modern marketing concept' of the Tió is not that bad, as at least markets an actual tradition of the country. Probably this commercial twist has saved the Tió from the claws of Santa (pun intended)

Que aquest cony d'invent consumista del tió amb cara ulls i barretina és una aberració cultural que engega a cagar(valgui la redundància) la metàfora que oculta tot aquest ritual. Hem d'eliminar aquests trets papanoelístics del nostre folklore i reivindicar-lo tal com va ser conçebut: bàsic, rústic, preciosament natural. This has been the first video I have found about something cultural. I enjoyed it. I have been trying to make videos about religious cultural celebrations here among Mexicans, Puerto Ricand, Dominicans and later on the many other ethnical groups we have here in the Bronx, NY. One question please. What kind of file of what resolution did you use.
