Saturn - one day after opposition

Uploaded by: kwakhed23
Video Description:
i took this with my 10" f/4.5 dobsonian stopped down to about a 4" aperture. i basically aimed at saturn and setup the camera on a tripod. i could see titan in the viewfinder of the camera, but the exposure time for the movie didn't pick it up. maybe next time -- maybe if i take off the aperture stop.

magnification only works well if you're capturing enough light and have a good steady atmosphere to look through. 660x will most likely show you how much the air is shifting around. this was done with an eyepiece that gives 40x, then multiply that by the zoom of the camera. i doubt i get above 400x at any point.

thanks! it's very tricky to do when you're scope has no motor for tracking the sky.
venus shows up in (nearly) full phase in my comet mcnaught video (just with the camera -- not telescope) and is featured in another vid, where i did get a look at it as a crescent through the telescope.
