dragatling, I've posted this before, but I think it is informative, so here goes again: One may choose to play w/o nails, however, it doesn't offer the tone and intensity that nails do (when used properly). Length of nails vary according to player. Edgar happens to prefer them a little longer, and because he is constantly having to perform or gig way more than the average solo guitarist, he prefers to use acrylic nails for their durability.

Lol if you know how to play classical, you need those nails.. Professionals have to carefully angle their nail for a certain tone. So he doesnt need to cut his nails.
