I personally prefer "primitive" bass. Too much complexity usually doesn't mesh with the drums unless you're playing with Tony Williams. The bassline in Pusherman is beautifully syncopated against the down beat. Something Curtis was a master of.

I respect your opinion, if you don't care for the keyboards, that's cool, but I like it. I think it adds a new dimension to the song and the keyboard player is quite talented. Great performance by all.

So smoothe, so mellow, his voice resonates to this day. I went to see him in Coney Island back when and a storm came, a speaker pole toppled down and hit him. Subsequently he became paralized. Oh Curtis... such good music... such good memories.
