I don't know how big that room is, but it usually doesn't echo that much in a small room. Though this echo effect can be generated by adding reverb to an ocarina recording.
Personally, I don't see a problem in adding reverb digitally. It makes things sound even better, and for all I know, such effects can also be added while playing live.

it only ever kills the Zora guy and even he was on the brink of death, the song ended his suffering I believe.
It has let an already dead Goron rest, cured a guy turning into a mummy thing and turned Deku Link back to normal.
Probably did other stuff but I can't remember
