And yeah, a base isn't the same thing as an occupation, but I am pretty sure we would be furious in America if we were forced to have a Saudi Arabian Air Force base on our soil. Ron Paul is the only real conservative up there, these new school guys are a joke. If you think that Bush Jr. spent a lot of your tax dollars, give Rudy Thompson McRomney a chance to show you what real spending looks like.

Ron Paul is using Dialectic reasoning two explain terrorism. The dualist approach of the others is far two simplistic to properly deal with such a complex issue.
Principles of the Dialectic
1.everything is related to everything
2.The external world is constantly changing
3.There is a synthesis between the Thesis and its Antithesis (The Patriot Act is a perfect example of this principle).

The intent of the Patriot Act is to protect freedoms. However, it consists of ideologies that are in contradiction with the principles of "Freedom". When Ron Paul discusses issues of "Blowback" and "Unintended Consequences"; he is thinking dialectically.
