You think so? I don't know - with how screwed up a lot of our equipment and weapons are, and our massive debt, and the lack of national morale, I don't know if either McCain or Obama would want to invade Iran (which might be an even more expensive venture than Iraq).
Time will tell. I admit that if it's going to happen, it's got to happen soon, because we're losing our ability to act unilaterally on the other side of the world.
I personally hope it doesn't happen, but we'll see.

I'm talking about our ground equipment, air ships, etc. A lot of it has been seriously damaged post-9/11 and we're not keeping up with maintenance.
And yeah, I'd say the worst result of Shock & Awe is that it made a lot of Americans think wars can be won just with bombs and cruise missiles. Real wars don't work that way. You know why it worked pretty well in Iraq? Because most of Saddam's military deserted.
Wars aren't like video games - and you can't occupy Iran after dropping a few bombs.

Ahh, I see your point. You're talking about a "surgical strike" against Iran's facilities and not an outright war. I misunderstood.
Although I've heard that some of the facilities would be unreachable with missiles or aerial bombs, so I don't know if we would try to drop special forces to sabotage the sites or what. The Iranians seem confident we can't destroy their facilities, but that could just be cheap talk.
It would be a lot less expensive than a war and occupation either way.

dude all u need to do is look up video of missle after missle chained with gps and radar,dozens of classified tracking systems no one will know about for 20 years all hitting the exact same milimeter, one after another - each one taking out another 10km of solid concrete...
if the war started, it would be insane for the us to leave any capability whatsoever for response-a strike on every military installation in iran, night after night of stealth b2 and cruise missle attacks they'd be done.

You cannot bomb iran without ultimately invading it.. thats a foolish thing to say. When we have military presences in 2 coutnries both boardering iran it would be stupid to think that iran wouldnt try to intervene in both iraq and afgahnistan with its new found excusse to let loose on its huge stockpile of medium range missles. Then we would have to respond with ground invasions. Not a nice scenario unless our next president gets teh budget in line and our military back to wat it was pre-iraq.
