Your a fool if you ... ( 3 days ago by tkadri85)
Your a fool if you honestly believe that Calzaghe would beat a prime Jones. Doesn't it seem convenient that NOW, when Jones and Hopkins are past their prime, that Calzaghe feels the need to call them out? He knows that the sore spot of his entire career was that he did not fight them. The past two fights were nothing but a pathetic attempt to reconcile that. If an old Hopkins almost beat him, a prime one would have destroyed him.

This is not true in the slightest. The most devastating thing about Jones was that he could throw POWERFUL combinations at lighting speed.

do you guys know if roy hadnt been disqualified in his fight with montel grffin in 1997, he would have reached marciano's record of 49-0.. beacuse in the tarver fight he was 49 wins with 1 loss.. not many people take notice of that.
Roy Jones was ... ( 3 days ago by Tedicus1)
Roy Jones was clearly on steroids later on in his career, when he fought at 175. Take notice of Jones' earlier fights when he was in his prime, even at 160 and 168. Shit, Jones was faster at 175 than he was at the lower weights. It is even evident from this highlight video. Anyone who doubts, just take a look. Even his body looks different. Hell he was about the same speed Saturday that he was early on in his career before the roids.
I believe Roy was ... ( 3 days ago by Tedicus1)
I believe Roy was on roids. He went off of them sometime in his career, probably after he came back down from heavyweight. And I dont want to hear the shit about Jone's losing too much weight too fast. Remember, after he came back down from heavyweight he fought good against Tarver in the first fight. It wasnt until the 2nd fight that he got KTFO! Besides, remember Archie Moore? He used to go back and forth from heavyweight to light heavyweight all the time.
Proof is in the ... ( 3 days ago by Tedicus1)
Proof is in the pudding. It is right on video to see. He was FASTER later on in his career at a higher weight than he was when he was younger and a lower weight. HA HA! Why? ROIDS! Somewhere along the way Roy went off of them. You can see it even in the videos.

The type of speed ... ( 2 days ago by tkadri85)
The type of speed that Roy Jones possessed could not be attained with steroids alone. One would have to already possess a large amount of natural quickness.

He was quick in his ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
He was quick in his earlier years but NOT as lightning quick and as powerful as he was later on in his career, and at a higher weight. He tested positive for anabolic steroids and GROWTH HORMONES. That is some serious shit, that would effect, for the better, someone's performance in the ring, especially someone like Jone's who already possessed god-given athletic ability. Watch his earlier fights.
I will quote from the head of Nevada doping Richard Hall
"Hall (Nevada ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
"Hall (Nevada states head of doping) stated during interview that Jones had tested positive for anabolic steroids use when the two met back in May of 2000."
Hall stated "I now ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
Hall stated "I now tender my resignation he (Mr Jones) has now failed four doping test (97,98,00 x2) they have also lost seven of Mr Roy Jones samples. I have written to both the New York and Nevada state athletic commissions stating that he (Jones) has tested positive for Testosterone Enanthate at least four times, his serum levels were 100x that of normal levels."
when pressed into ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
when pressed into the effect that would have on his performances he added: "Its like he is taking a machine gun into a knife fight his strentgh and speed would be too much for two men to overcome".
There is an article ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
There is an article about Jones' doping over the years. The article is quite long should you google it. Amazingly, Hall states that Jone's was tested big time before his fights with Tarver and Hall was on record, speculating that without the hormones he couldn't sustain the performance he used to.
Guess what happened? Jone's started mysteriously fighting shitty. He blamed it on dropping down in weight, and fanboys said he was not in his prime anymore! HA!
Google it.
Just a quick tidbit ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
Just a quick tidbit about the doping. After Richard Hall was on record saying this (which you can google yourself and read the sources and articles) the BALCO thing broke. Remember that? The BALCO story broke the same exact time period that Jone's started to "not be in his prime anymore". It's because at that same time, Hall (who busted James Toney, and then put BACK IN CHARGE OF NEVADA DOPING) had Jone's tested EVERY WEEK before his fights with Tarver.
After the BALCO ... ( 2 days ago by Tedicus1)
After the BALCO thing broke, drug testing in boxing became more serious, BEFORE fights (especially those suspected of doping, like Jones).
Google the article and read for yourself. It wasnt because Jones wasnt at his "peak" for the Tarver fights, its because there was a crackdown on doping big time after BALCO! When you have been on roids as long as Jones, after coming off of them, you will look like shit, and he did in his Tarver fights. Looked human once again.
Hopkins and RJJ ... ( 1 day ago by mab999)
Hopkins and RJJ were both 3-3 in their last six fights which was why Calzaghe fought them.
Had they been in their prime Calzaghe would never fight them
Shame, imo Calzaghe is the Best British Boxer in modern times, but the way he has wasted his talent is a shame and the fact people call him a legend to boxing, when he has not even gone Prime V Prime against a legend once is a disgrace to boxing.
