Thats a good question.. but not quite what I meant. lol Why does Kenny G. sell more than Kenny Garrett? Why is it that more people know have never heard of Charles Mingus? The average music listener enjoys music as entertainment - not as an art form. So, the less complex music typically becomes what's more popular. Being that artist seldom make money from sales (the record companies do) the ticket and merchandise sold from touring is how the artist actually make a living.

For many people this is there first jazz record. I was lucky enough to already had discovered Coltrane, Parker..the greats but I burned this record up. The three most influential funk jazz albums of all time has to be Headhunters, Mister Magic, and Ronnie Laws Pressure Sensitive. Any takers?
