yeah, "hip hop is dead" is a good album, but illmatic is what made me like rap - period. i still remember the first time i heard "it ain't hard to tell"... i was 9 years old in my grandmothers kitchen, lol. hearing that michael jackson sample in the background and nas spitting that knowledge...i didn't even really understand the meaning what he was saying at that time but for whatever reason, it just grabbed my attention. i remember thinking "you can do that???"... i was hooked, lol

Actually, technically, Nas MURDERS AZ.
His rhyme schemes throughout his years as Nasty Nas, God's Son, etc, have been absolutely mind blowing...
AZ has an ill flow, and it's possibly iller than Nas'(though in my opinion, Nasty Nas is the best flow ever), but to say that AZ is technically the better rapper?
Just nah... especially when so much stuff goes into rap, like consistency, rhyme scheme, pattern, flow, voice, and lyrics...
