i dunno. it seemed pretty obvious to me, but i don't know if i'm right. the song's about love so.. i think each of those images carry love within them. they're all images of.. love. you know, human love, what love actually means in humans and how it is present everywhere, in the tiniest of things and expressions there can be love.

I always interpreted it that he's saying love is such a wonderful thing and it's "the best sensation" but you have to get past the lions deadly jaws to get to it's mane. Love is something you work for and it may come with some hurt down the road. It may leave you alone at some point but it's still "the best endeavor."
