thats only part of it. I think for more info you should wiki it but heres a summary. First of all the mayans set up their calander by planets and stars which is and explanation for this coincedence. 12/21/12 at 10:24 astronomers (present day not mayans) beleive that every planet will be align. this forces gravity from each of tese planets to combine. With an extreme gravitational shift like that it could put our planet. Even if it pulls us a fraction of a cm we're dead. from various causes
