*NOTE* it plays AUDIO .mp4 files, which are really .m4a... it doesn't play VIDEO .mp4 files. software includes a video converter though

This is definitely better than a hard drive player whereas you can jog with these unlike Ipod's 100 GB hard drive player that can easily break. Nothing short of flawlessness.
