Turning huge columns on a homemade lathe

The columns shown in this video were made on lathe custom made by me. Most of the tools used in the process were made by me also.
The columns may be up to 12" x 12" in the square part or 13" diameter in the round section and up to 11 feet long. (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm x 3.35 meters)

Las columnas mostradas en este video son hechas en un torno hecho por mi mismo. La mayoría de las herramientas que uso tambien fueron hechas por mi.
El tamaño maximo de la columna puede llegar a ser de 12 pulgadas x 12 pulgadas en la seccion cuadrada y por 11 pies de largo (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm x 3.35 metros).

hola y gracias por tu comentario. Mira la bancada la construí con vigas de acero para construcción, el mandril es una barra hueca de 1 1/2 pulgadas con 2 chumaceras para molino, para le punto de arrastre le coloque un plato plano para torno con ranuras y en las ranuras le coloco 2 tornillos que entran en la madera. las vigas son baratas y solo necesitas un maquina de soldar. Gracias por ver y comentar, ojala te sirva de ayuda esto.

Al terminar la prepa trabaje en una carpinteria y en verdad hubo ocasiones en las que los carpinteros me sombraban con sus ideas practicas para poder hacer algun trabajo para el que no teniamos las herramientas adecuadas. Espero algun dia poder tener en mi casa un taller.

Que motor usaste en el torno ?
No conozco de esto, por favor explica como controlas la velocidad de la cuchilla a lo largo de la columna, manualmente ?
Que usas para la decoracion en las columnas, o sea para hacer las lineas rectas talladas ?

Para el torno use un motor de 1 hp, 1725 rpm. La velocidad de la cuchilla se controla por medio de engranes y un tornillo sinfín. Para las lineas rectas use un router en lugar de la cuchilla y con la columna fija.

Felicitaciones, en buena tratare de copirte tu idea, espero no te molestes, tengo una bancada con un tornillo de 4 entradas y un motovariador mas una router, si me funciona te hare llegar los resultados.
