That's fine. If an individual wants to devote his time to contributing to a grand project I say OK.
Heck, I'm using Firefox 3 and work with OpenOffice on a daily basis.
But it is authoritarian to use government muscle to coerce another person or persons from profiting from the fruits of their labor.
More than authoritarian, it's tyrannical.

He's not the one who lodged the bill to allow software patents. He isn't taking an offense stance by saying "let's use government muscle to coerce another person or persons..." he's saying "don't let the government use it's muscle against us" there is a big difference.
