When I first saw Magic Slim (Morris Holt), it was in Paris around 78, sporting his old sunburst jazz master, with a kick ass band like nothing I had ever heard.

You're right, great clip! I've just been introduced to Magic Slim by a co-worker's husband. It was a Saturday and she and I were the only 2 in the school, I had some Coltrane on when her husband came in and asked if I ever heard of Magic Slim. He lent me Black Tornado and I was hooked. Great stuff.

Je connais Magic Slim depuis qu'il est sorti "on the wax" sous la marque MCM en 1975 ; je l'ai revu plusieurs fois 25 ans après, notamment au Jazz Club Lionel Hampton à Paris : il est meilleur que le bon vin ... N'hésitez pas à publier vos vidéos sur le sujet, il se fait très très rare ...

Nice to see Magic is now an elder statesman, used to see him lots 30 yrs ago in a tiny bar called the Zoo. Slim is ain't so slim...he's a big man and one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet.
