Arthur Clarke - Fractals - The Colors Of Infinity 6 of 6
Uploaded by: do5e
Video Description:
Arthur C. Clarke presents this unusual documentary on the mathematical discovery of the Mandelbrot Set (M-Set) in the visually spectacular world of fractal geometry. This show relates the science of the M-Set to nature in a way that seems to identify the hand of God in the design of the universe itself. Dr. Mandelbrot in 1980 discovered the infinitely complex geometrical shape called the Mandelbrot Set using a very simple equation with computers and graphics.

Yet,being so finite & limited,we can only go so far.
Only God always was (is),hence there was no beginning nor will there be an end.
There's this whole amazing universe with all us miniscule beings, still this unlimited Creator cares and looks out for it and us. That surely gives hope.
z ← z² + c was the first algorithm that showed me in the late 1980 how slow my 8MHz, 8bit homecomputer was. Today, with "xaos" and other awesome fractal generators on 2000MHz(!), 64bit PCs we all can experience how far CPUs have gone.
I got Mandelbrot's book "The Beauty of Fractals", still don't get most of the math.
These 6 videos remind me again how beautiful fractals are. Narrated by Sir Arthur Charles Clarke, it can't get much better. R.I.P., Sir Arthur.
And a Heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour..."
R.I.P. Sir Clark!
Neither, it is William Blake.
A pearl in your hand and infinity in it.
An hour has 60 minutes each with 60 seconds and in each second an eternity in it

Go Arthur! He was into internet porn before anybody! I was watching some beautiful images unfold just before I watched this!
At the end of the above video, was a quotation from Sri Aurobindo, which in turn, came from a hymn (for lack of a better word)...Poornamadah Poornamidam...
Try to find these parallels between what was said in the Veda/the Upanishads and what the modern science discovers.. and u recognize the greatness of those Ancient sages and most importantly the inter-connectedness of that Anicient thought and this MOdern discovery
1. THe thought of "self-reference" described above can be found in the PURUSHA SUKTA or the hymn of the Cosmic Man in the Veda...the primordial creative reason behind the Universe was that the GOdhead (the ParaBrahma, as explained in the creation hymn called NAASADIYA SUKTA) in one thought (by impulse) decided to replicate himself (Bahuhu i.e. let me replicate) and then there was the Big Bang or as the Veda calls it the HIRANYA GARBHA..
I only feel infinite joy for having been born and raised as a Vedantin and blessed to have the capacity to follow Science...
AUM!!!!
Sure it is practical but is within itself a function dependant on infinity which is basically a function based on time...which in itself cant be proven.
intresting though
