Yeah...it seems like it may be planned given the band's synchronized return to the music. Although I once saw a VH-1 show about the event and they claimed that the pause was not pre-arranged and that it occurred because Geldof was flooded with emotion from having organized a charity event which over a billion people were witnessing.

Bob always had a great sense of drama. I have to admire he sabotaged the point of his own song in order to draw everyone's attention to the point of the event. He was never a wonderful singer, but then neither is Bono. And I think Geldof and the Rats were the better band; he was, when he was on form, a brilliant songwriter. Along with Thin Lizzy and Rory Gallagher, the Rats were the only Irish band that I never felt embarrassed about. I remember watching Live Aid. What a day.
