She got radio play, but around that time Alanis released another album boy "bands" got huge, Jennifer Lopez then the likes of Britney Spears. Imani came out when alternative was huge. i guess you can say pop was making a come back then.

well back then it seemed, unless you're one of those "hair band" fucks, you got air play because those radio stations needed listeners. No one was listening to plain ole pop. Pop was blended with a bunch of things making them less pop sounding. '90s in my opinion was good for that. There was something different on a lot of the stations, even the hard rock stations had something, but they still played Metallica.

Wow, I heard this on the radio all the time. This song came out when female acts like Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Fiona Apple and Joan Osbourne (ie. the Lilith girls) were making a huge splash. Imani Coppola was sort of put in that group, at least as far as radio programmers were concerned.
