the goal here is to develop muscle memory. you never learn to run until you have learned to crawl, walk and then run. even people that have a year into this style will notice that siu lim tao teaches you that the real mastery is in the combination of the form and its proposed applications.
3 steps to each its five forms.

I really wouldn't call a Karateka a stylist.
Maybe a bulldozer.
Anyone can be mowed down by one of those.
WClearner, do you ... ( 2 months ago by Sishen)
WClearner, do you actually believe the video was just a "plot?" I've seen the complete video which was simply a documentary of that years Kyokushinkai tourney which Ninomiya won. Also defeated were Muay Thai & other karateka--was it a "plot" to humiliate them also? Why humiliate your own style? The wc was simply one of his opponents that day. Whether or not he was a "true wc" stylist I don't know since I don't know him, but he entered claiming to be and lost. That's all I'm commenting on.

cf, If he was "taken off the street" why did he know your forms (seen in his training segment) and why did he even enter the tourney claiming to be a wc stylist? You say your sifu "beats up karate peeps"--when & where? Does he go to there schools & challenge them, does he fight mma? Who is he? If you have any vids to prove it please post them or if he thinks he such a badass since he "likes" to beat up people, have him enter the Kyokushinkai, the US Sabaki tourney, or enter some mma & show us.

Super, you wouldn't "call a karateka a stylist"? Are you saying karate isn't a style simply because the Kyokushinkai style is a "hard," power style of martial art? Whether a style is a hard or a soft style, shouldn't it be able to deal with a bulldozer style of fighter? Isn't that one of the purposes of any martial arts style?--to not be "mowed down" by this type of fighter?
i'm not talking ... ( 2 months ago by cfG21)
i'm not talking about this video i'm talking about the "wc vs the karate guy" and those forms are horrible. His chum kiu and terrible footwork. The person in this video is the legendary wong song leung during his youth he was one of the most feared men in hong kong. When he walked the streets people ran.Video for what? Unlike westerners he doesn't need to make himself so big and show off. he has more important things to do like make money instead of showing off.

cf, I asked you to put up some videos to prove that your sifu's kung fu can truly beat up skilled karateka as you claim he "likes" to do otherwise your statement has no more credibility than the many armchair poseurs who troll these vids trying to talk tough. I asked where & when he fights them since if he goes to their schools & challenges them or picks fights on the streets instead of fighting in sanctioned matches then isn't that trying to "make himself big and show off"?

What is with people ... ( 2 months ago by DuykRuyk)
What is with people who learn a martial art? The first thing they want to do is pick a fight and test their skills or showoff their skills with "demonstrations". Wing Tsun is Different, possibly the only martial art without a belt system. Martial arts is also not about being able to kick someones ass, it's about self-defense, discipline, and expression.

I msut agree with that half way. Becuase its good to be soft sometimes, but not always. If you're soft always then you become Tai chi which is really useless in an actual fight. Wing Tsun is relaxed but coils up and strikes like a snake, then relaxes again. Sorta like a whip.

Good tai chi is hardly useless in a real fight. It's not called Grand Ultimate Fist for no reason. Granted, most of the tai chi taught today is crap, but the good stuff is very good. Note: I've done a little tai chi, but not much, and certainly not enough to beat someone with it. It's not "my thing" but I respect it and those that do it right (for they can kick my ass).

Please, show me a video where some tai chi guys are actually fighting or a street fight video where it's used. Show me some kind of practicality besides being used by old people to stay active.

Tai Chi... or Taiji ... ( 1 month ago by EnergyBoxing4life)
Tai Chi... or Taiji is a very secretive art and one of the most deadly energy arts in existence of the Kung Fu world. I know very little but I can tell you from experience Taiji push hands is a very effective exercise on manipulating an opponents energy. If your adamant on discovering the truth about Tai Chi search for it. Seek and ye shall find my friend.
To add more Tai Chi ... ( 1 month ago by EnergyBoxing4life)
To add more Tai Chi is like water in a jar. When you shift the jar all the water flows to one spot. The same with True Tai Chi or any other energy boxing when you shift your body weight all your energy flows to one spot. It teaches one to be unitary and to use their body as one singular unit. The arms are controlled by the body so are the legs. Remember the arms and legs are only the shadow of the body. Newer forms of Wing Chun also teach unitary theory.

good point for both entries. and yes wing chun does use a tai chi concept, but they use it to make their punches more powerful, they also call it something different (I think its called chi sau). They also practice constantly how to control an opponents energy and use it for more power. Wing chun punches even when lightly used hurt like hell and it feels like someone just hit your organs with a metal rod. Don't fuck with wing chun, its not like aikido or hapkido. They'll actually hurt you.
Chi Sau is correct. ... ( 4 weeks ago by EnergyBoxing4life)
Chi Sau is correct. It is used to develope feel as to where an opponents energy is being projected. And you are very right about the rest of Wing Chun. The one inch punch hurts like a bitch. If you enjoy Wing Chun I would also like to recomment Chen Tai Chi(Taiji) and Wa Lu. They are very elusive and develop energy mastery. They are both similar to Wu Shu but not as much flexibility is required. If you are like me you will enjoy them. I try to study many Kung Fu arts to make my own art.
