totally agree. been a Cave fan(worhsip-er) for the past 20 years. Ironic though that the Mercy Seat video was my initial introduction to the man. But I agree, his videos have never been the strong-point. And I think that's a great thing.

I honestly feel it's his attempt at being "hip" to the younger people (though imho he doesn't have to do anything to be hip). Most music videos are like this now. I'm just glad he made one for it at all, though I'll admit I'm a bit disappointed in it in comparison to his other ones. He tends to tell stories in his videos as well as the songs....

Man, this is limp shit...what exactly is this band spo'sed to be good at....the lyrics would take 10 mins & the song another 5mins...proving no-one ever lost money by underestimating public taste...he sounds like a young John Laws..except that Laws was a better actor..now I know what kind of audience requests Running Bear at cabaret gigs....can any of you sing a scale???

The success of Cave's adaption of the passe German 'theatre braun ' concept is baffling. The dark to light brown emotional stretch of tb were meant as a 1950's protest against the mundanity of German life....in essence, 'a '50's dada statement. In Australia, it's referred to a 'mogadon chic ' (mogadon is a leading sleeping tablet. The fact that audiences in the UK & Oz have taken to 'tb' adds further creedence to the dictum that no-one ever lost money by underestimating public taste.
