I read this book in grade 9 and immediately became my favorite book. He reminded me so much of myself with every chapter he read, that I just couldn't finish it. I can't really explain it, I just could not read so much about myself who wasn't myself. I agree completely with everything you said though.

i thought it was a good enjoyable book, althought towards the end i wanted to kill holden, hes prob the biggest hyrpocrite in the book, e.g phonies, even tho he is the phony, and fact he wanted to chase children around a field of rye? riiiiight, p.s i read the book last maybe 3 years ago so i dont remember alot of it

finally someone understands Catcher in the Rye. I read this in my junior english class and no one in my class got it and made fun towards me ( not made fun of me) because I liked the book. Its one of my favorites and ever since I read the book, I knew that if I ever met a guy like Holden, I would immeditaly become his friend.

ok, so i really didnt want to watch this until reading the book in school, but now i read it in school (up to ch. 16 so far) so i can watch this!!! and guess what. i interpreted the hat just like you did! sort of. i think it represents his true personality. he never wears it in public. only when he thinks nobody is looking.

this guy just wants love.... not the kind of love where hey if i play my cards right i can get laid kind of love.... hes in a dilemma where the whole world is out there all having sex and doing their own thing.... this poor chivalrous guy just wants some one to hold and talk to and it pains him because he feels that if he looks for that again he might get hurt. love with out sex is something hard to find even now.
